Evader Story |

W/O II Edward Stewart ‘Ted’ Moran was the navigator of Lancaster ME722 that was hit by flak near Kleve. The pilot then decided to return but was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed north of Zwolle. Moran bailed out after the plane was hit by flak and landed in Het Aamsveen to the east of Enschede. Together with fellow crewmember W/O. Bruce Davis (E0495), they got in touch with the local resistance who hid them with the Bosscher family at the Rijksweg 14 in Glanerbrug. The same day they were joined here by American S/Sgt. Anslow (E0473) who already left for Tilburg the next day. From Glanerburg, Moran and Davis moved to an address in Oldenzaal and then on to an address at the Lutterzandweg in De Lutte. Early in July 1944, they were arrested here by the Germans. Moran was taken to Stalag Luft 7 Bankau and was evacuated to Stalag III-A Luckenwalde in January 1945. |
