History
The RAF Lancaster LL955  departed on 21 June at 11:10 PM 1944 from RAF airfield Metheringham, Lincolnshire, base of 106 Squadron. Target of the mission (which involved a total of 122 Lancasters) was  a synthetic oil installation in Scholven-Buer. The aircraft was downed in the early morning of June 22, 1944, at 2:01 am, by Hptm. E-W. Modrow of 1./NJG 1 (night fighter squadron) and  crashed near the bicycle bridge of this Lancasterpad. All seven crew members were killed in this crash.
