History
In the early morning of June 22, 1944, at 2:01 am, the Lancaster LL955 of the No. 106 Squadron crashed near the bicycle bridge of this 
The Lancaster LL955 departed at 11:10 PM on 21 June 1944 from Metheringham base in Lincolnshire, England. The aircraft belonged to RAF 106sqn. England and took part with 122 other Lancasters in an action against a synthetic oil installation in Scholven-Buer. The aircraft was shot down by NF Hptm. E-W. Modrow of 1./NJG 1. All seven crew members were killed in this crash. In this action, in addition to the Lancaster L955, eight Lancasters were lost.
