Description |
---|
The 'Lacaster monument' near Oosterend is a propeller mounted on two red wooden poles. A heavy metal commemorative plaque has been placed under the propeller. A nice piece of street has been laid out around the monument and there are two benches. The whole is about 2 meters 80 high and 2 meters 20 wide. Would this be a Lancaster ED603 propeller? |
History |
The monument symbolizes the 167 Allied war pilots (more than 40 aircraft) who died on or near Texel in the Second World War. |
